Toritos are little ceramic bulls. They are a symbol of strength and protection. They are usually placed in pairs on the roofs of Andean Homes. There is a legend that long ago during a drought a man put a bull on a hill and was going to sacrifice him to the gods so they would make it rain, but the bull resisted and stabbed is horn into the rock. Then water came bursting out. I learned about the ingredients they are traditionally made of, and the strangest ingredient in my opinion was chocolate.

At the end of our first week in Cusco we did an after-school class on painting Toritos. They turned out to be very pretty, mine was mainly blue, gold and silver. My brother's was rainbow and it was supposed to look like it had fallen into a nuclear reactor, which it did.  My Mom's Torito looked like it had been painted by a machine, because it was so good and my Dads looked like Ferdanand. In the end it was very entertaining.
